Audiologist

Education and Training

Audiologists typically hold a doctoral degree (Au.D., Ph.D., or Sc.D.) in audiology. They undergo extensive training in diagnosing and treating hearing and balance disorders.

Scope of Practice

Audiologists can perform comprehensive hearing evaluations, diagnose hearing and balance disorders, and provide a wide range of treatments. They are also trained to manage more complex hearing issues and can provide auditory rehabilitation and counseling.

Licensing and Certification

Audiologists must be licensed to practice in their state and often hold certifications from professional organizations like the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

In summary, while both professionals can help with hearing aids, audiologists have a broader and more in-depth expertise in hearing and balance health.
